SHERMAN, Texas — Divine Equine Therapeutic Riding Center will host its Fall Festival Fun-Raiser from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at 2822 Luella Road in Sherman, inviting families to support therapeutic riding programs for children and adults with disabilities and veterans with PTSD.
The family-oriented fundraiser will feature food, games, music, a hayride to trails for treats and a cake walk. Tickets will be available at the gate for $20 per car, and food and drinks will be available during the event.
The center uses equine-assisted activities to work with people facing physical, developmental, behavioral, cognitive, sensory and learning disabilities. Its website also identifies PTSD among the conditions and challenges addressed through its programs, including services for veterans and first responders.
Divine Equine describes itself as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and lists PATH International Riding Instructors among its certifications. The center says many disabilities and challenges can be managed or improved through therapeutic riding.
According to information provided by organizers, Divine Equine serves more than 70 students across six counties. The center is seeking scholarship support to help make its services available to more riders, as well as donations, volunteers and community members who can attend the festival.
For families, the fundraiser offers an opportunity to learn more about therapeutic riding while spending an afternoon at the center. For supporters, admission and additional contributions can help sustain programs that serve children, adults and veterans in the Texoma area.
People interested in the center’s programs, scholarships, volunteer opportunities or other ways to help can contact Divine Equine Therapeutic Riding Center at (903) 421-4616 or visit divineequineriding.org. The center is located at 2822 Luella Road in Sherman.
