Grayson voters can use any Election Day vote center

SHERMAN, Texas — Grayson County voters may cast a Nov. 3 ballot at any Election Day vote center on the county list. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. That rule is different from Cooke County’s. Cooke’s Nov. 3 notice says a voter must use the polling place for the precinct where that voter is registered. Grayson’s list, revised Sept. 15, says a voter may use any location on it. Early voting runs Oct. 19 through Oct. 30. Hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Oct. 19 through Oct. 24, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25, and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Oct. 26 through Oct. 30. Early-voting sites include the Election Administration office at 115 W. Houston St. in Sherman, which the county lists as the main early-voting location. Others include the Grayson County sub-courthouse at 101 W. Woodard in Denison, Grayson College’s main campus at 6101 Grayson Drive, the college’s south campus library in Van Alstyne, Howe Police Department, Whitesboro City Hall, Bells Church of Christ, and St. John the Apostle Episcopal Church in Pottsboro. The last day to register to vote, or to update an address, is Monday, Oct. 5. An application for a ballot by mail must be received by Friday, Oct. 23, either in person or in the office mail. A postmark on that day is not enough. The county has also posted sample ballots for the Nov. 3 general election. A sample for one Sherman-area precinct includes statewide offices, a U.S. House race, and Grayson County offices, including county judge. Party labels on the sample are Republican, Democratic, Libertarian, and Green, and some races have a write-in line. Local contests can differ by precinct, so voters should read the sample for their own precinct rather than assume every page matches. Election Day centers on the list run from Bells, Collinsville, Denison, Gordonville, Gunter, Howe, Pottsboro, Sadler, Sherman, Tioga, Tom Bean, Van Alstyne, Whitesboro, and Whitewright. Churches, city halls, the college, and the election office are on it. The county PDF is the list to use. This article does not replace it. Grayson County Election Administration is at 115 W. Houston St., Sherman, TX 75090. The phone is 903-893-8683. The email is votegrayson@co.grayson.tx.us.
