GUNTER, Texas — Gunter is taking applications for open seats on its parks and recreation board through noon on Oct. 7, and it is taking sealed bids on two ambulances through 11 a.m. on Oct. 13. The City Council appoints the parks board to advise the council and city staff. The board’s charge covers current parks and recreation programs, future park development, and buying parkland. It does not run the parks on its own. Membership is seven people. A member must live inside the Gunter city limits or in the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction, the area just outside the city where Gunter still has some authority. Terms last two years and are staggered, so the whole board does not turn over at once. Meetings are monthly, on Thursdays at 6 p.m., at Gunter City Hall. People who want to apply can email the city secretary or pick up a form at City Hall, 105 N. 4th St. Applications are due at noon on Oct. 7. Questions go to Detra Gaines, city secretary and director of administration, at 903-433-5185. In a separate notice, the city is selling two ambulances by sealed bid. Bids must reach the city secretary at Gunter City Hall, 105 N. 4th St., Gunter, TX 75058, by 11 a.m. on Oct. 13. The city said the bids will be opened and read in public at City Hall immediately after that deadline. The notice does not list model years, mileage, or a minimum bid. The parks notice was posted Sept. 24. The ambulance notice was posted the day before, with a page date of Sept. 25. Both are on the city’s civic alerts page at guntertx.gov. The parks alert also links a PDF of the open-position notice, and the ambulance alert links the legal notice.
