SADLER, Texas — S&S Consolidated ISD trustees will hold a public hearing on the district's certification of compliance and its financial rating before the board's regular meeting Monday, Sept. 21, at 6 p.m.
The hearing covers the district's certification of compliance and a discussion of the S&S FIRST rating, the state's Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas, which scores districts on financial management and accountability.
Trustees also will recognize the staff of the month for technology ahead of the regular agenda.
After a public forum, the board will take up a consent agenda covering minutes from the Aug. 24 regular meeting and public hearing, August bills for payment, and the August financial report, including the board report, cash position and combined funds report.
The regular agenda includes five items: amended minutes from the Aug. 4, 2025 special called meeting and budget workshop; a proposal to move the January board meeting to Jan. 11, 2027; donations from All State Paving and Cal-Main Foods designated for the Gordonville Fire Department; the certification of compliance under Texas Education Code 39.008 that must be submitted to the Texas Education Agency; and adoption of EFB Local, the policy governing instructional resources and library materials.
The library policy often draws public attention because it sets the rules for selecting, adopting and reviewing instructional materials and for handling requests to reconsider books and other resources. The compliance certification covers the district's annual filing with the Texas Education Agency.
The FIRST rating is issued each year by the Texas Education Agency and grades districts on measures such as fund balances, administrative cost ratios and timely payment of debt. Districts discuss their results publicly and submit a corrective action plan when the rating drops below the standard.
The superintendent's report closes the open session with a current enrollment report and a transfer report, followed by an executive session and any action that results from it.
S&S CISD serves the communities of Sadler and Southmayd in western Grayson County, with campuses clustered along Farm-to-Market roads north of Howe. Board meetings are open to the public, and the district posts agendas and supporting documents online.
Residents who want to comment during the public forum must sign up with the presiding officer or a designee before the meeting begins and indicate which agenda item or topic they plan to address, according to the posted agenda. Speakers are limited to five minutes each.
